The E-Sylum: Volume 6, Number 34, August 24, 2003, Article 11 1907 CLEARING HOUSE SCRIP ARTICLE One of your Editor's collecting specialties is 1907 Clearing House certificates, a substitute for paper money resulting from the 1907 U.S. bank panic. Nolan Mims, in the August 2003 issue of Numismatic Views, a publication of the Gulf Coast Numismatic Association, has an article featuring a piece of 1907 scrip from the Second National Bank of Hamilton, Ohio. The note is a $2.00 denomination. Mims references a February, 1950 Numismatic Scrapbook article by Elston G. Bradfield on the scrip, which appeared in 42 states in response to the short-lived panic. Wayne Homren, Editor The Numismatic Bibliomania Society is a non-profit organization promoting numismatic literature. See our web site at coinbooks.org.
