Anne E. Bentley, Curator of Art & Artifacts,
Massachusetts Historical Society writes:
We have been tweeting John Quincy Adams’s diary since the 200th anniversary of his first entry in November 1779-his last entry was shortly before his death in 1848.
We’re up to 1814 now, and this time 200 years ago he mentioned a couple of medal collections.
What a great idea! A daily blast from the past. Maybe this Twitter thing will catch on after all. Thanks to the MHS for bringing Adams to life in the social media age.
Can anyone tell us about "Benauw's medals"? Who was Benauw?

Here's a clue. Anne adds:
Adams had been in St Petersburg as our first ambassador to Russia. But by this date he had left Russia and was in Paris negotiating the Treaty of Ghent to end the War of 1812.
