MORE ON EARLY ENGRAVED U.S. MEDALS
Last week web site visitor Paul Galotti provided images of this 1797 engraved lifesaving medal. He followed up with some additional images found in his search for who may have created the piece.

Anne Bentley of the Massachusetts Historical Society writes: I would suggest the writer visit us to research in the Humane Society of Massachusetts papers, which are on deposit here. We also have all of Revere's smaller engravings to compare with the engraving on the piece. Humane Society records would name this recipient and recount his deed, if they gave him the medal. Also, check in with the research director of the Revere House.
