FROM THE MAILBAG
The postman brought a number of year-end numismatic journals to my door, and I thought two items would be
of interest. First, the December 1998 issue of the John Reich Journal (for collectors of early U.S. silver) has a great photo on p32 of the dismantling of the second
Philadelphia Mint in 1902.
Second, the Fall 1998 issue of Numisma, the journal of the Eastern States Numismatic Association, has an article by literature dealer (and Numisma editor) Charles Davis
titled "Significant Literature of the 20h Century" The article lists Davis' picks for best American numismatic literature per decade. Before revealing the list, perhaps some of our subscribers would care to make their own recommendations. And what about non-U.S. titles? Which works deserve special recognition?
