The E-Sylum: Volume 4, Number 24, June 10, 2001, Article 14 MECHANICAL SHELF PHOBIA David Gladfelter writes: "The ANA's moveable shelves are apparently the same kind as are now in use at ANS, courtesy of Harry Bass, and have been in use for some time for the stacks at the New Jersey State Library. I realize these things have safety devices but nevertheless, I always look and listen carefully for any sudden shelf movements. Probably some phobia left over from the trash compactor scene in Star Wars."
