The E-Sylum: Volume 5, Number 44, November 3, 2002, Article 15 1881 PLATINUM MEDAL SOUGHT J. Moens of Dilbeek, Belgium writes: "I am preparing an article on the use of platinum for numismatic purposes. W. Fuchs mentions in his catalogue a medal, struck in 1881 on the occasion of the International Cotton Exhibition in Atlanta. This medal is said to show a train, and is supposed to be in gold- plated platinum. Would any of the readers of the E-Sylum have more information on this medal ? Can it be found in a public collection ? Any information would be appreciated. Thank you for your cooperation."
