The E-Sylum: Volume 6, Number 23, June 8, 2003, Article 26 SCOTT RESTRIKE STORY Regarding the story of the unsold Scott restrikes of the Confederate Half Dollar, Gar Travis sends this quote from an item written by Q. David Bowers: "Scott decided to strike impressions from his die, and he sent out circulars offering silver restrikes at $2 each, agreeing to have only 500 pieces struck. It was doubtful if over 250 were sold, as Scott had a plentiful supply of them for over 30 years thereafter. He gradually raised the price to $15 each." http://www.pcgs.com/articles/article2903.chtml Wayne Homren, Editor The Numismatic Bibliomania Society is a non-profit organization promoting numismatic literature.
