The E-Sylum: Volume 9, Number 49, December 3, 2006, Article 32 TASMANIAN HERO's VICTORIA CROSS SOLD On November 29 the Australian Broadcasting Corporation aired a story about the recent Bonhams & Goodman sale of the Bernard Gordon Victoria Cross medal. A transcript of the piece is posted on the web. "Like so many other young Australians, Tasmanian-born, Lance Corporal Bernard Gordon found himself on the other side of the world in 1918. And it was there, in France, that he fought his way into history, awarded the Victoria Cross for his bravery. His medal, the rare and highest military honour for a Commonwealth soldier was sold at auction in Sydney last night for almost half a million dollars."
