"The Extravagant Ambassador: The True Story of Alexandre Vattemare, the French Ventriloquist Who Changed the World" is "edited by Earle Havens, Acting Keeper of Rare Books and Manuscripts at the Boston Public Library, and Pierre-Alain Tilliette, Conservateur en chef a la Bibliotheque administrative de la Ville de Paris. The eventful life and multi-faceted philanthropy of Alexandre Vattemare (1796-1864) are celebrated in this book and the exhibition.
