The E-Sylum: Volume 11, Number 16, April 20, 2008, Article 20 ON BANKNOTES IN WALES Regarding banknotes in Wales, Joe Boling writes: "There is a long series of private circulating checks issued by the Black Sheep Company, dating at least back into the 1960s. Of interest is that each piece has an imprinted tax stamp, not unlike the stamps printed on US checks of the 19th century. The one I used to own was a 2d stamp on a 1969 ten shilling 'note.' " WOULD WALES WELCOME A WELSH BANKNOTE? esylum_v11n15a25.html Wayne Homren, Editor The Numismatic Bibliomania Society is a non-profit organization promoting numismatic literature.
