U.S. MINT IMAGES AT THE PHILADELPHIA RECORD PHOTOGRAPH MORGUELen Augsburger submitted the following note about a
numismatic research resource useful for those interested in the
Philadelphia mint. -Editor I visited the Historical Society of
Pennsylvania recently and located a resource which, while not related
directly to what I was doing, may be quite helpful for others. It is the
Philadelphia Record Photograph Morgue, which is literally the actual
photographs used to produce this newspaper in the 1930s and 1940s. There
were about seventy-five images related to Mint activities, including war
nickels, assay commissions, launch of the Roosevelt dime, etc. Anyone
researching the Mint for this period can likely find some dynamite visual
material here!To access the Philadelphia Record photograph morgue catalog, see: Historical Society of Pennsylvania Online Catalogs (http://www.hsp.org/default.aspx?id=17) Wayne Homren, Editor The Numismatic Bibliomania Society is a non-profit organization promoting numismatic literature.
