IF THAT'S THE QUEEN, THEN I'M KAISER WILHELMLast week we quoted an article interviewing Adolf Burger, a survivor of the WWII Operation Bernhard Nazi concentration camp counterfeiting scheme known: However, the counterfeiters pierced the notes right through the Queen's face on the notes – "nothing a loyal English citizen would ever do," laughed Burger. Tom DeLorey writes: The queen? I always thought that that was the figure of Britannia, since Great Britain was ruled by a King at the time. Of course, a German citizen would not necessarily know that.  Tom's quite right - sorry I didn't flag that last week. The counterfeited notes feature Britannia, not the Queen. Next time I pull my Bernhard notes from the vault, I'll look for the holes.
