Regarding last week's numismatic vocabulary word, Tom DeLorey writes: I used to work with a man from Birmingham, England, and "brummagem" was his pronunciation of the town name. Therefore, calling a coin a "brummagem" is merely calling it a "birmingham." Curiously, the man's wife, raised 20 miles outside of town, pronounced it "Birmingham," as we would refer to the city in Alabama.
