PHOTO: GREG STEMM AND MATT TUCKER WITH ODYSSEY MARINE TREASUREDave Lange, Research Director of Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) writes: The latest issue had an article about Odyssey Marine which included a frequently-reproduced photo of Greg Stemm with an unidentified technician. So many times have I seen this photo with only Greg identified in it that I feel compelled to seek justice on behalf of the other individual. That person is Matt Tucker, a conservator with NCS and occasional grader with NGC. Matt deserves his place in history.
I created a cropped version of the image that shows the men in close-up. I found the photo on Art Daily, and there they did not identify either man. Greg on the left, and Matt is on the right in lab coat and gloves.
