COIN World editor Beth Deisher writes:
I was surprised to read that you are wondering if we plan anything special for our 50th anniversary year. Perhaps you were busy over the holidays and did not have an opportunity to read my Editorial in our Jan. 4 issue, wherein I noted that as a part of our celebration this year we will be publishing five special editions that will explore by decade the events and people that have helped to shape and influence the hobby and marketplace as we know it today. Other aspects of our 50th anniversary celebration will be announced as we approach our actual anniversary on April 21.
I missed that announcement, but I'm glad to hear the anniversary won't go unnoted. I do read COIN World weekly, but don't always have a chance when it first comes out. I no longer receive the hardcopy versions but read the electronic version that arrives in my inbox each Monday. The online version loads very quickly and is pretty easy to use, although I find myself changing the magnification level often so I can read articles of interest.

Officially we called issue Volume 1, Number 0 the "Pilot Issue."
Gary Dunaier writes
I've been hoping they would include reprints of the Pilot and First issues as part of the festivities. As a matter of fact, I e-mailed Coin World that very suggestion on 10/14/09...
