RAY WILLIAMS ON THE MAINE PENNY

Regarding the story of the Viking coin unearthed in Ray Williams writes:

maine-penny With respect to the Maine Penny being a possible plant by the discoverer, I doubt it. The coin was said to be an English coin at the time and it wasn't until 22 years later that it was discovered to be of Scandinavian origin. If I were to plant a coin to promote Viking habitation in Maine, I would not wait 22 years to correctly attribute the coin to be Viking rather than British...
