QUERY ANSWER: ANA HALL OF FAME BIRTH, DEATH DATES
Last week Pete Smith asked if anyone could provide the birth and death dates of five members of the American Numismatic Association's Hall of Fame.

Steve M. Tompkins writes: Here is what I was able to find with very little searching, hope it helps.
Phil Iversen independently found the November 5, 1884 birth date for B. Max Mehl from a different source. Ken Bressett writes: I found Barclay Head’s birth and death years in a book on ancient coins. I looked the others up on the Internet initially, but then I dug out an ANA publication that lists all Hall of Fame members with birth and death dates so that I could verify everything. This is what I found:
Thanks, everyone. The Internet's never a bad place to start, but good researchers know to confirm what they find with other sources. Pete still has some work to nail down all the references, but Ken's official ANA publication is a good find. Presumably, candidates for the Hall of Fame are researched in advance to prepare announcement materials, so the organization's pamphlet is likely authoritative. My guess is that month and day were not published because these may not be known for all of the Hall of Fame members.
