QUERY: DETROIT DORR & BREWSTER INFORMATION SOUGHTTom Rigney writes: For some time now I have been meaning to request assistance in finding information regarding a note I purchased a few years back. I'll attach a photo. It's an 1817 .25 Detroit Michigan note, signed by Dorr & Brewster and is one of the earliest notes of record from this area. I have had minimal success in researching Melvin Dorr & Brewster and thought this might be an interesting piece to request the help of some of the better research members.
I've always liked these early fractional notes. I once had a nice collection of Bank of Pittsburgh notes from the same year. They were printed in denominations of 50, 25, 12 1/2 and 6 1/4 cents. Perhaps other denominations of the Dorr & Brewster notes exist. We have some crack researchers in our number; can anyone assist? Thanks.
