This position is located in Division of Armed Forces History, National Numismatic Collection within the National Museum of American History (NMAH). The employee is responsible for carrying out the research, collections management, exhibitions development and education mission of the museum.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Pass Pre-employment Background Investigation
  • May need to complete a Probationary Period
  • Maintain a Bank Account for Direct Deposit/Electronic Transfer
  • Males born after 12/31/59 must be registered with Selective Service.
  • A copy of your Curriculum Vitae (CV) and unofficial college transcript(s).
  • Requesting a writing sample of no more than 12 pages.

DUTIES:

  • Researches American history through objects and collections as well as traditional sources.
  • Collects and manages large and diverse collections.
  • Plans and develop exhibition concepts and content as a team member in specialty area and as part of team for broader subject areas.
  • Has previous professional scholarly experience within the discipline of American Numismatics. Understands monetary devices and their systems, their economies, and their historical context.
