David Lange submitted this item which addresses a minor controversy at the time of the release of the new Kennedy Half Dollars. Thanks!

I bought several inexpensive books at the Summer FUN show from a dealer in vintage numismatic literature who doesn't seem to set up at the other shows I attend around the country. The items I purchased were mostly things that everyone else passes over, such as dealer-published coin guides, checkout stand booklets, etc. I buy these to flesh out my collection of coin folders and albums.
In one of these cheap books I found the attached clipping from the Pittsburgh Press
dated March 27, 1964. That was just three days after the release of the Kennedy Half Dollar, and the coin was receiving a lot of public attention. I'd always read in coin books and magazines about how Gilroy Roberts' initials were said by some to be the hammer-and-sickle emblem of the Soviet Union, but until now I hadn't encountered a contemporary reference to it.
