Web site visitor John McMichael is looking for a particular issue of The Elder Monthly. He provide the image of the issue he
has; he needs the previous number to get the complete articles he's interested in. -Editor
I am in possession of a copy of "The Elder Monthly" dated April, 1907, Vol. 2, No. 2. I am not a
numismatist. I picked it up long ago at an antique book store not for its numismatic value, but because it contained an account of the unfortunate
massacre of the Christian Indians at Gnadenhutten, Ohio. I suspect one of my ancestors played a part in that massacre. I found it quite odd to be
published in a magazine devoted to numismatics.
Back then, collectors were much less specialized than today. It wouldn't have been uncommon for a person to collect all of the
areas listed on the issue's cover, including coins, stamps, autographs and Indian artifcts. -Editor
What I am seeking is the immediate preceding issue. I have not been able to locate one. The issue I have only contains the last part of a series,
and states it is a continuation from the previous issue. I have tried to locate the preceding issue(s), but without success. Even a photocopy would
do. Can you be of assistance?
I checked my periodical holdings and I have some of the Volume 1 issues of The Elder Monthly, but none in Volume 2. Can any
of our readers help? Let me know and I'll put you in touch with John, Thanks. -Editor
