Just when I think I've heard of every scam in the book, along comes a new one. Instead of passing a counterfeit $20 bill, check
out what this guy did. -Editor
Denver Police are investigating a bizarre case involving a man who conned a store clerk out of $20 while pretending to be a police officer.
“It’s kind of convoluted,” said police department spokesman Sonny Jackson. “Through a dialog with the clerk, the guy ends up discussing that this
bill may be counterfeit and he says, ‘Give me the bill. I’m looking for counterfeit bills.’”
Jackson said the man then told the clerk he was an undercover Aurora cop, presented a card and even took his shirt off to show he was wearing a
bullet proof vest.
Jackson said once they catch the impersonator, it will be up to the District Attorney to decide whether to file a theft charge in addition to one
related to the impersonation.
