Speaking of Congressional Gold Medals for airmen, the May 22, 2015 American Numismatic Society Pocket Change blog (written by
Matthew Wittmann) features a bronze example of the 1928 CGM by Laura Gardin Fraser for Charles Lindbergh. -Editor
The reverse appears to have been inspired by one of Lindbergh’s nicknames, “The Lone Eagle.” The Congressional Gold Medal is but one of
dozens of numismatic tributes to Charles Lindbergh’s achievement, and we will take a look at another one around this time next year.
