Based on dealers', mints' and central Banks' news mails, ultra-modern numismatist Pabitra Saha reports on the latest coin
designs. Here are some that caught my eye recently -Editor
Cook Island Five Dollars
One more for the collectors of ships on coins. Nicely done. -Editor
2015 Lithuania 5 Euro coin on Literature
Minimalist designs usually turn me off, but I like this one. That's clearly Don Quixote on the obverse, and the image of pages taking
flight is amazing. -Editor
2015 Greece 10 Euro on Aristophanes
This one combines classic and minimalist design on the obverse. I think it works, but I'm on the fence about the coin overall.
I've seen worse, but I guess I'm still coming to terms with the tide of minimalist designs we're seen in recent years. Is
there even a proper name for this style? -Editor
