Dr. Beverly Straube alerted me to this upcoming book (to be published in December) about coins circulating in North America. Thanks!
Thanks also to Alexander Hancock of Left Coast Press, Inc. for sending me a higher-resolution image of the book's cover. -Editor

Numismatic Archaeology of North America is the first book to provide an archaeological overview of the coins and tokens found in
a wide range of North American archaeological sites. It begins with a comprehensive and well-illustrated review of the various coins and
tokens that circulated in North America with descriptions of the uses for, and human behavior associated with, each type.
The book contains practical sections on standardized nomenclature, photographing, cleaning, and curating coins, and discusses the
impacts of looting and of working with collectors. This is an important tool for archaeologists working with coins. For numismatists and
collectors, it explains the importance of archaeological context for complete analysis.
I pointed Bly to earlier E-Sylum articles on Larry Lee's recent book, The Coins of Fort Atkinson: A Study in Numismatic
Archeology, which she kindly forwarded to the authors. Larry's book was written from the numismatic perspective, and this one is
coming from the archaeologist perspective. It will be interesting to see where the information and points of view intersect or diverge.
