An article by Paul Gilkes of Coin World published march 20, 2017 features medals by engravers Anthony C. Paquet and Charles Cushing Wright in the upcoming Spink USA April
auction. -Editor
Spink USA’s 969-lot sale April 4 and 5 in New York City includes a number of 19th century medals, including two executed by Assistant Mint Engraver Anthony C. Paquet.
Among the lots offered are an 1847 Commonwealth of Virginia medal recognizing Maj. Gen. Winfield Scott’s military service during the War with Mexico; an 1864 Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul,
Philadelphia medal; an 1860 Japanese Embassy medal; and a silver 1792 silver half disme.
Here are images of some of the pieces. I just can't resist. Great pictures of great numismatic items are a sort of "coin porn" for those of us addicted to this hobby.
Enjoy. -Editor
