Alan V. Weinberg owns a gold example of the Congressional medal as well as gold and silver versions of the earlier 1858 Transatlantic Cable Cyrus field medal. The 1868 gold medal was illustrated in
an earlier Numismatic News article, and images of the 1858 silver medal are on the Newman Portal. -Editor

Friends of Field had already presented him with a medal ten years earlier. This silver medal is in the Weinberg collection, and is illustrated in the Newman Numismatic Portal
