Sullivan reminds members that the NBS Constitution and By-Laws ballot is coming to a close. All NBS members are encouraged to review the proposed revisions contained in the last issue of the Asylum and mail in their ballots. Results will be presented to the membership in the final Asylum issue of 1998. 1998 COAC Michael will be presenting a paper on Counterfeit Detecting literature at the 1998 Coinage of the Americas Conference at the American Numismatic Society in New York November 7. This year's conference theme is "Circulating Counterfeits of the Americas" Michael gave us a preview of his talk at the NBS meeting at the ANA convention in Portland this summer. MONOGRAPH ON MEDAL LAWS AVAILABLE NBS Board member Pete Smith has compiled a monograph titled: "Laws of the U.S. Congress Authorizing Medals". The card-covered 84-page monograph includes the text of more than 200 laws related to authorization of medals with references to numismatic catalog numbers and an index.
