Welcome to the Numismatic Bibliomania Society mailing for November 13, 1998. NEW MEMBERS Wes Rasmussen, Todd Ballen, Karl von Hoffmann, and Jorgen Somod of Denmark have joined us. Welcome aboard. CANADIAN "FORRER" PUBLISHED Ronald Greene has announced the publication of "R.C. Willey's Dictionary of Canadian Numismatics" by the Canadian Numismatic Research Society. Based on a format similar to Forrer's it is an attempt to list any person or firm that has designed, engraved or struck tokens, medals or coins relating to Canada. There are ten plates. For ordering information, contact Mr. Greene at pdgreene@pinc.com INDIAN AND AFGHANISTAN REFERENCES PUBLISHED Achal Madhavan of Vedams Books International in New Dehli announces the publication of two new books: "Ancient Indian Numismatics" by Shankar Goyal, and a reprint of "Ariana Antiqua: A Descriptive Account of the Antiquities and Coins of Afghanistan" by C. Masson (First published in London, 1841). For more information, contact: vedams@vedamsbooks.com JEREMIAH COLBURN SIGNATURE SOUGHT NBS Board member Joel Orosz would like to see a photocopy of a known genuine example of numismatist Jeremiah Colburn's signature so he can compare it to a signature on a recent addition to his library, a large-paper Cogan catalog. If anyone can help, please e-mail Joel directly at jjo@wkkf.org BOLEN COLLECTION SURFACES At the ANA convention in Portland, I purchased a copy of Edwin Johnson's rare 1882 monograph, "J. A. Bolen's Medals, Cards, and Fac-Similes" The book lists all items produced by the die sinker. It came in handy recently when I looked at a marvelous, large collection of Bolen medals. Not only did the collection contain multiple high-grade varieties of the Bolen medals, it included several of Bolen's actual die punches. I wish I could say I own the collection, but it's still a neat "Show-N-Tell topic for U.S. numismatists. FEATURED WEB SITE Today's featured numismatic web site is CoinLink, which claims to be "The Internet's Largest Numismatic Web Site Index".
