FRANK KATEN

This extra edition of The E-Sylum brings more sad news.
Longtime numismatic bookseller and NBS member Frank
Katen of Silver Spring, MD died yesterday, January 21st.
According to his wife, Laurese Katen, "Frank passed away
on his 98th birthday very peacefully." George Kolbe
reports: "Frank Katen's funeral services are on Wednesday,
January 24th at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, New Hampshire
   Avenue, Silver Spring MD."

Frank was "the dean of American numismatic bibliophiles,"
noted Julian Leidman. His sales of numismatic literature
spawned many a collector, and some dealers as well.

Tom Fort, editor of our print journal, The Asylum, asks that
reminiscences be sent to him for publication in an upcoming
issue. Tom can be reached at this email address:
   etfort@aol.com.
