NBS MEETING HELD AT MICHIGAN SHOW

A regional meeting of NBS was held at noon Saturday, November 27th at the Michigan State Numismatic Society show in Dearborn, MI. Twelve people attended, including myself, David Sklow, Myron Xenos, Dan Friedus, John Wilson, Michael Sullivan, Carl Herkowitz, Joel Orosz, John Bergman, John Burns, Bob Hatfield, and Bernie Vanderbow (I hope I spelled that right…)

A general discussion of numismatic literature ensued. One attendee noted that the group was "putting the BS into NBS." Topics covered a wide range of subjects, including The E-Sylum, bookbinding and preservation, and the ANA's Friends of the Library.

Dave Sklow noted that he'd already received some feedback on his Asylum article on the early issues of The Numismatist, linking the pedigrees of a couple sets listed in his article.

Joel Orosz mentioned a recent book store find, a genealogy by noted U.S. collector Matthew Stickney of his mother's side of his family. The volume contained some biographical notes and an engraving of Stickney himself.
