The E-Sylum: Volume 8, Number 52, December 11, 2005, Article 2 FORMER ANA LIBRARIAN WILLIAM DEWEY HOSPITALIZED David Gladfelter writes: "William S. Dewey, numismatic writer, former ANA librarian and a Krause Numismatic Ambassador in 1987, was taken to Valley Hospital in New Jersey on December 6, the day after his 100th birthday. He is in critical condition with multiple problems. He celebrated his birthday early (on Thanksgiving weekend) at the home of his granddaughter Jinny (and John) in Wyckoff. His children are hopeful that he will beat the odds and be able to enjoy his 100th Christmas soon. In his Christmas card he wrote: "It's a privilege to be a century old, and I feel especially grateful to have been able to fulfill my dream of writing two books on the history of the pinelands and many articles on Admiral Dewey that were published during my retirement years. I'm grateful too, for my wonderful family and friends -- you all mean so much to me." Let's pull for him."
