The E-Sylum: Volume 9, Number 51, December 17, 2006, Article 10 LIBERTY ALSO MISSING FROM NEW DOLLAR COINS David Klinger writes: "The last E-Sylum issue did not mention that the traditional "LIBERTY" inscription is also missing from the design of the new coins, and has not been moved to the edge design. The Presidential $1 Coin Act (Public Law 109-145) states: "Inscriptions of ‘Liberty'.—Notwithstanding the second sentence of subsection (d)(1), because the use of a design bearing the likeness of the Statue of Liberty on the reverse of the coins issued under this subsection adequately conveys the concept of Liberty, the inscription of ‘Liberty' shall not appear on the coins." The full text of Public Law 109-145 can be read here: Public Law 109-145 " Wayne Homren, Editor The Numismatic Bibliomania Society is a non-profit organization promoting numismatic literature.
