Last week I quoted a Numismatic News article on a Kansas scrip note. Jim Downey writes: I would not be too quick to dismiss the Trego, Kansas bounty note as not a piece of Depression Scrip. It appears the necessity for issuing the warrants for the bounties was due to a problem in getting small change. Many items issued by municipalities that are identified in the Mitchell/Shafer book as being Depression Scrip were issued for the same reason. Many of these also appear as "single-purpose" items that on their face may not appear to have been intended for general circulation, yet did so.
