The other show taking place October 22-24, 2015 is the Pennsylvania Association of Numismatists Fall Coin Show & Convention at the
Monroeville Convention Center near Pittsburgh, PA. PAN is sponsoring an auction with CoinZip.com. In a new twist for online auctions,
lots will be displayed at the show for viewing in person. It's a clicks-and-bricks approach spanning the physical and virtual world.
Here are a few lots that caught my eye this week. -Editor
Chambersburg & Bedford Turnpike Road Company $10
(Bedford, PA)- Chambersburg & Bedford Turnpike Road Company $10 Scrip note dated January 19th, 1819 No.383 It is printed on very thin
paper with a few pre-printing paper crinkles. A very small tear at the lower left side of note. There are two very small folds at the
lowest left corner that are not visible from the photo.
Early scrip is a fascinating view into life and finances of early America, I collected Pittsburgh obsolete paper money for years and
especially enjoy early notes like these. --Editor
