Stacks Bowers auctions sold an important collection of U.S. trade dollars in their upcoming March 2017 Baltimore Sale. Included were 44 chopmarked dollars, overstamped by merchants
and moneychangers in the Orient to attest to their proper weight and fineness of silver. In the March 2017 edition of Chopmark News (published by the Chopmark Collectors Club and edited by
Colin Gullberg) features some of these coins in detail, identifying the various merchant chops. Chopmark News is an excellently produced publication - see the link below for more information
on the club. -Editor
This issue also contains interviews with collector Cedric Cheung, dealer and researcher Ron Guth and ten other articles, a whopping 50 pages in all. Editor Colin Gullberg helpfully
includes live links to Google Translate throughout the issue, making his great labeled composite images even more useful to non-Chinese-speaking audience. -Editor
