Here's a nice non-numismatic item with a numismatic connection.
As discussed in an earlier article, some well-known numismatists also have talent as artists, including R. S. Yeoman, Pete Smith and Frank Lapa.
Steve Roach of Coin World put me in touch with dealer Steve Stoops of
Stevens Fine Art in Arizona, who has for sale this 1871 painting
by American Numismatic Association president Augustus Heaton (1844-1930). Heaton also authored what is arguably the most influential monograph in American numismatic history, A Treatise on the Coinage of the United States Branch Mints., 1893.
