The E-Sylum: Volume 5, Number 28, July 7, 2002, Article 10 NUMISMATIC SPELLING BEE Your editor participated in an interesting program hosted by Sam Deep at the June meeting of the Pittsburgh Numismatic Society - a numismatic spelling bee. A tough list of 25 words (including Antoninianus, Brachteate, Disme, Exergue and Scyphate) whittled down the field. I managed to come in tied for first place with 21 of 25. A tense spell-off followed, and I held on to win by correctly spelling kreuzer, fleur de lis, and spielmarke. Whew! Stu Strickland was the 2nd place finisher. But if anything is misspelled in The E-Sylum, I'll blame it on the spell-check program...
