The E-Sylum: Volume 9, Number 2, January 8, 2006, Article 4 LANDMARK NUMISMATIC LITERATURE The previous question about Photograde brings to mind a more general topic for discussion: landmark literature in numismatics. Which books or catalogs caused such a stir at their issuance that they changed the hobby landscape forever? Here in the U.S., each major modern grading guide could probably fit in that category (Brown & Dunn, Photograde, ANA Grading Guide). Among U.S. titles published in the 19th century, Dickeson's Numismatic Manual and Heaton's book on Mint Marks are probably sure-fire nominees. What do our readers think? What publications would you nominate for a list of landmark numismatic works? Wayne Homren, Editor The Numismatic Bibliomania Society is a non-profit organization promoting numismatic literature.
